Data Entry Clerk

I received a call yesterday from Pro-Tell, a company based out of Norwich, saying that they had seen my resume online and would like me to come in and do the typing tests to become a data entry clerk. So I figured, hey I might as well try this right? It's full time, 40-45 hours a week, and it will last until next summer! Exactly what I was looking for, and well I have been typing on the computer since I was like 5!
I get there and I have to do two typing tests, one for words and one for numbers. Before I begin both tests, I am told that accuracy is more important than speed. Therefore, I make sure that my typing is correct rather than speedy. Both of my tests are completely correct and accurate, but I am told on both that I need to pick up my speed. No problem, I think to myself because when I am regularly typing I am pretty quick. Well the boss comes in and tells me that I am right on the borderline, and that he will have to call me tomorrow to see if they will allow me to become a data entry clerk. Seriously? Companies like this hire tons of people everyday to pretty much enter data from paper into computers. I am a college GRADUATE!!! I think I can handle this, but apparently I am borderline! Once again, it is the next morning and I still have not heard from them.
Apparently, my job search still continues....

Book Sale!!!!!

Right now on this website  there is an awesome book sale! They are selling books 5 for 15$ with free shipping! It is a selection of kids books, fiction, non-fiction, classics, and new titles. There are about 2000 pages of books to choose from! You can also get more than 5, what I mean is that you can get 10 for 30$, sometimes websites allow only 1 set of books for a sale to be sold at one time.     The best part about this website, is that when you purchase books from there they donate money to organizations that help people read, give books to children, and support literacy everywhere. They also do carbonfree shipping which adds on a little to your books, but it helps  "offset" these emissions through the purchase of clean energy credits and reversing deforestation."  Although, books can sometimes seem like they are not environmentally friendly, this website is trying to change that and help build trees again.      Once...

How Rude!

As of recently, I was hired and took a Customer Service Associate position at Lowe's. Which at first, I thought was just really a glorified cashier. As it turns out, we do a lot more than just ring customers out with their purchases. As a customer service associate, we ring customers out, we handle customer complaints, requests, problems, inquiries, we handle the phones, we find, print, and call about customer's order that were special ordered, or an internet order, or just ordered. We do a lot, and sometimes it gets very busy and crazy. What I really want to write about concerning my job was how to me it seems that people have just lost their ability to be pleasant, nice, and gracious to the people they are buying products from. I had so many customers be rude to me today, that it got me wondering, (and using Full House phrases), "Why are we so rude?" I know that I don't have a very important job, but I am still a person that should be treated with respect wh...

Remembering 9/11....

I just wanted to say thank you to all those people out there who serve our country, and protect us day and night.        9 years ago, I was sitting in my 7th grade study hall, when we heard people running through the halls, thats when my teacher went out to investigate and he found out what was going on. He came back into the classroom and turned on our tv. What we saw was horrifying, surreal, and very very sad. I saw the second world trade center tower fall, and I saw people jumping out of the building, and I saw debris crashing to the ground in NYC. As a 7th grader, I was in shock, to me the U.S. was impenetrable. I really never thought that something like that could happen to my country. I was shocked, appalled, and confused. I realize now how naive I was, and how my judgement and view on life was forever changed that day.        I really have no idea whether it was the planes that knocked the to...
