Book # 21

Late last night I finished the book, Incarceron, by Catherine Fisher. I am writing this review about that book today, because I didn't have time to do it last night before bed.
A hardcover book at the warehouse book sale for $3.
This is a fantasy novel about a world that put all it's criminals after a bloody war into a world called, Incarceron, where no one can enter or leave. This novel focuses on Claudia, the Warden of Incarceron's daughter, and her fascination and adventures with Incarceron. It's about a world so afraid of change, that they have stopped time and progress and choose to live in a time called the Era, as far as I can tell it's like Medieval times maybe a little later. They all have to follow strict Protocol, and not use, make, design, or change anything that wasn't around in the time of the Era. This is interesting in the book, many characters struggle under Protocol, and they cheat and change it whenever they can. I like the diverse group of characters in this novel as well, they are all different and yet many of them seek the same thing, freedom. Whether it be freedom from Incarceron, a marriage, Protocol, the Era, or life itself.  I haven't read a fantasy novel in a little while, and I had fotgotten how much I love this genre, and the new worlds it brings to my imagination. I wouldn't call this novel young adult literature, because it's about adults and their society. Although, young adults could read it, because it is age appropriate, and they might really enjoy it. There is a sequel coming out in December 2010, called Sapphique. I would definitely buy the sequel, because I really enjoyed the first one. If you enjoy any fantasy like the Harry Potter series, or the Artemis Fowl books, or even Charlaine Harris' novels, then you will enjoy this book as well. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Data Entry Clerk

I received a call yesterday from Pro-Tell, a company based out of Norwich, saying that they had seen my resume online and would like me to come in and do the typing tests to become a data entry clerk. So I figured, hey I might as well try this right? It's full time, 40-45 hours a week, and it will last until next summer! Exactly what I was looking for, and well I have been typing on the computer since I was like 5! I get there and I have to do two typing tests, one for words and one for numbers. Before I begin both tests, I am told that accuracy is more important than speed. Therefore, I make sure that my typing is correct rather than speedy. Both of my tests are completely correct and accurate, but I am told on both that I need to pick up my speed. No problem, I think to myself because when I am regularly typing I am pretty quick. Well the boss comes in and tells me that I am right on the borderline, and that he will have to call me tomorrow to see if they will allow me to become

Falling Into Place

It feels lately to me, that my life has been at a crossroads and I've really just been standing still. Yesterday, my college e-mailed me and told me that the program that I would be taking there starting this summer, is now being offered online. I flipped out! If I got into the online program, then I wouldn't have to move, spend all that money, and I could still work full-time while going to school online. It seemed like fate had stepped in! I immediately called the college, and applied for this new program. I am not sure when I'll hear back for it, but I will be staying where I am for a little while longer, till I know for sure. My coworkers at my job now were pretty happy that I was staying, and honestly so am I! So, I just wanted to take a minute and share this amazing program with others. The University at Buffalo is now offering the Library and Information Sciences Master's degree with a concentration in School Library Media Specialist all online. As long as you

Book # 24

During the holidays, I also read A Christmas Carol  by Charles Dickens to go with the Christmas mood. I have had this beautiful leather bound edition of three Charles Dicken's novels, and so I thought I would finally read the carol. I found this story very scary, fun, and morally in line with the time that it was written. I enjoyed reading Dickens again, and found this story to be an easy and quick read. It was interesting to really read and listen to the real diction that was supposed to go with the story, not the changed diction that is in all the movie versions. I think that everyone should read this story, because it has an amazing message that shouldn't be thought of only around the holidays. We need to be thankful for our lives all year round, and be kind to one another, as well as love our friends and family openly. Recently, I watched the cartoon Jim Carey version of this story, and I was struck by how much of the original language they use from the actual novel, as
