Rebooting Reboots?

Image result for all the spider-man movies

Last night my husband, myself, and our two kids sat down to watch the new Spider-man movie, Spider-man: Homecoming. Now, just to recap there are already original Spider-man movies and then reboots of those Spider-man movies, and now we have a reboot of those movies.

Spider-man movies:
Spider-man (2002) Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst star as Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. This movie starts as an origin story, where Peter gets bitten by a radioactive spider and becomes Spider-man. He fights his best friends's dad, Norman Obsorne, or the Green Goblin.

Spider-man 2 (2004) Maguire and Dunst still star in this sequel and this time fights a fellow scientist, Otto Octavius, Doc Oct.

Spider-man 3 (2007) Maguire and Dunst are the leading actors in this movie. Eddie Brock is turned into Venom (played by Topher Grace). Harry Osborne takes over the Goblin legacy. Harry is played by James Franco.

The Amazing Spider-man (2012) Andrew Garfield plays Peter Parker this time, and Emma Stone plays Gwen Stacey who was a minor character in the previous films. This film focuses on the origin of Spider-man as well, and he battles Lizard, the mutated version of Dr. Connors.

The Amazing Spider-man 2 (2014) Andrew and Emma are back playing Peter and Gwen. This movie follows their relationship and their graduation from high school. Gwen is planning for the future while Peter is battling Electro.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker, with appearances from Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, John Favreau as Happy. Other celebrities are included in this movie as well. This is another origin story for Spider-man, except that it skips over the part of how he becomes spider-like and instead focuses on his progression from awkward beginner to seasoned crime fighter. Holland plays a high-schooler struggling to keep up with his crime fighting alter-ego and other Marvel superheroes. Peter must face and defeat the Vulture played by Micheal Keaton.

Alright, to get to my point, why do they keep rebooting reboots? The original three Spider-man movies starring Tobey Maguire, were rebooted into the Amazing Spider-man series starring Andrew Garfield, and finally they are rebooting it once more withe the Homecoming movie starring Tom Holland.

But, isn't there another way to come up with comic book hero movies instead of rebooting movies that have already been done. Haven't we seen enough and learned enough about the origin of Spider-man? Why do they continue to redo movies that were already successful movies from the start? I'm interested in seeing some new movies with original content and characters.

Why couldn't they move onto a Black Widow series? I loved the recent Wonder Woman movie, and would love to see more from that series as well. Why not explore more women superhero movies and stories? There is a big audience for this niche in the market and it's untapped so far. Wonder Woman was a step in the right direction. Although, they need to be careful not to make a movie that is sexist towards women which I believe they accomplished with Wonder Woman.

It seems that Hollywood is depleted of original ideas, and they've come to the conclusion that redoing older successful movies is the only way to make money anymore. Also, there is a rising trend in adapting books to movies as well. This is also not original screenplay content and is therefore another type of "reboot." Where have all the original stories and screenplay writers gone? I love comic book movies as much as the next nerd, but I'm sick and tired of reboots. There are plenty of characters available for new movies and series.

So, Hollywood, if you're listening, stop rebooting the reboots!!!

Tattoos.... Addictive or Not?

Tattoos although painful, are something that society accepts and even praises now a days. Long ago it was something that mostly men who were in some branch of the service did to prove their bravery and have a lasting memory of the honor they got while serving. Now not only do men get tattoos but more and more women are getting tattoos, and not just in places that you can't see all the time either. Kat VonD comes to mind when I think of women who are very liberal with tattoos and look amazing and beautiful with them as well, (even if she is a man stealer). She not only has a lot of tattoos, but she is an amazing tattoo artist and runs her own shop, you can watch her on LA Ink. I waited until I was completely sure, and had enough money before I got my first tattoo last year on spring break during student teaching. I had to wait until I had a break from school, because I got my first tattoo along the side of my right foot, and I would not have been able to wear the correct and appro

Remembering 9/11....

I just wanted to say thank you to all those people out there who serve our country, and protect us day and night.        9 years ago, I was sitting in my 7th grade study hall, when we heard people running through the halls, thats when my teacher went out to investigate and he found out what was going on. He came back into the classroom and turned on our tv. What we saw was horrifying, surreal, and very very sad. I saw the second world trade center tower fall, and I saw people jumping out of the building, and I saw debris crashing to the ground in NYC. As a 7th grader, I was in shock, to me the U.S. was impenetrable. I really never thought that something like that could happen to my country. I was shocked, appalled, and confused. I realize now how naive I was, and how my judgement and view on life was forever changed that day.        I really have no idea whether it was the planes that knocked the towers down, or if it was explosives set off inside. My Job Search

Since I graduated college, I have been searching for a job in the area where I now live with my husband and our dog, Brama. At the moment, to be honest, I do not care where I work. I just need a job that will keep me busy and pay my bills. I have applied to about 15 stores and locations, have had 6 interviews, and one part time job offer at a local dollar store. My problem with this situation is that I am a college graduate! I graduated from a good school, with good grades, in what I thought would be a wonderful career, which is teaching. So far though, I realize that the recent economic problems are affecting me more than I thought they would. Many places are either not hiring, or only hiring part time, which does not help my situation at all.  I am not trying to complain, but at the same time, I did not pay that much money to go to college, and then not get a job because the economy is in a recession and school budget cuts are at an all time high. Why is it that when the economy is
