Book Sale Results and Pics!

This year at the Putnam Penguin Publishers book sale, I got 53 books for 97$, that makes each book about a $1.83 each. That is an amazing deal and steal. My mom also bought me two Taste Of Home cookbooks for 6$.

This year was a little different for me, I went on the first day of the sale, Saturday. My mom, sister, and I got there about 2, and waited in line for about 2 hours. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it was well worth the wait. Once we were in the warehouse, my mom got boxes and picked a spot, and my sister and I went out shopping. It was great, and the deals were awesome. Many books were between the $1 and $4 range, and some were in the $6 and up range. All my books were $4 or less, which is amazing. Waiting in line to pay was long as well, but they pack your books back into your bag or boxes, and since we had 4 boxes and one bag, they took our boxes out to our car for us. It was a great day with beautiful weather, and awesome book sales.

Here are some pictures of the line to get into the sale, I was a little busy once inside to take any more pics. The line to get into the sale wrapped all the way around this parking lot, and into the street. Many people brought luggage, roller carts. backpacks, and other big bags to carry their books.

Now I'm ready to get reading my books, I am so excited for some new material to read. So if you aren't busy this week, take the time and stop down at the book sale. It's not as busy during the week, and it's well worth it. For dates, times, and directions check out my post, "Best Book Sale!!!"

Everything Happens For a Reason, I hope!

Just recently, I was turned down for the Teach For America position, that I spent long months applying and preparing for. I can't say that I wasn't disappointed to read the generic "Sorry you did not get it" letter they sent me. It was hard to see my dream of working for Teach For America, and finally being a teacher get dashed, especially with a generic letter. I really had a great feeling about the process, and left the interview feeling like I nailed it. I guess that I didn't impress like I thought I did. I broke down at first from the shock that I didn't get my dream job, and then I cried because I realized how badly I did want it, and how wrong I had been. Later that night I talked to my mom about what had happened, she knew I was upset about missing this opportunity and offered some advice. She said like so many do, "Everything happens for a reason." At first I was annoyed, because I feel that so many people use this logic as a cop-out. But, as...

So Lost...

For so long I have been focused on getting a full time job, and now that I have that I am once again focusing on my future. Questions just keep plaguing me like: "What am I going to be doing in a year?" "Will I go to grad school?" "Will I get a teaching job?" "Will I stay at my current job?" "Will I get another job somewhere?" And now I just can't seem to get these questions out of my head. I feel so lost.  I don't know what to do, where to apply, how to find new opportunities. Ever since I was a little kid, I have been striving for something. Whether it's doing well in sports each season, or getting good grades at the end of the year, getting Top 10 of my class, and then graduating high school, then it was doing well in college, finding a good major, and then graduating. Now that I am done with all that, I am finding that it's hard for me not to feel a little lost, lonely, confused, and without purpose. Once I discove...

Book # 38 Water for Elephants

Thanks to a co-worker who lent me the book, and friends and family that told me how amazing this book was, I finally read, Water for Elephants , by Sara Gruen. I have been hearing rave reviews from friends, family, coworkers, online sites, and other blogs about this book, and I have to say that I agree whole-heartedly. This is a wonderful book about love, life, the circus, and how connected people can become with each other and animals in such a short time. It's a stunning tale of the carnival and circus people of a time long ago, and how their lives revolved around the circus, the performers, the workmen, the animals, and the crowds. I loved all the characters in this book, and it was really interesting going from the past to the present with the main character. The love between Marlena and Jacob is so wonderful, and pure that it's a great part of this book. I also love how involved and invested Jacob becomes with the animals and some people in the circus. It's a tale of...
