Book # 38 Water for Elephants

Thanks to a co-worker who lent me the book, and friends and family that told me how amazing this book was, I finally read, Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen. I have been hearing rave reviews from friends, family, coworkers, online sites, and other blogs about this book, and I have to say that I agree whole-heartedly.

This is a wonderful book about love, life, the circus, and how connected people can become with each other and animals in such a short time. It's a stunning tale of the carnival and circus people of a time long ago, and how their lives revolved around the circus, the performers, the workmen, the animals, and the crowds. I loved all the characters in this book, and it was really interesting going from the past to the present with the main character. The love between Marlena and Jacob is so wonderful, and pure that it's a great part of this book. I also love how involved and invested Jacob becomes with the animals and some people in the circus. It's a tale of people overcoming the odds to be together, but also not compromising themselves to do that. Jacob and Marlena love each other, but they also love their horses, the elephant, and the monkey and instead of leaving the circus they stay and that proves how much they love each other, and their lives.

I just loved the whole book, the theatricality of it, the time period, the characters, the setting, and the sequence of events. It's a wonderful book, that will enrapture any reader, and I am excited to see the movie when that comes out as well. I think that Reese Witherspoon is going to make a wonderful Marlena, and I hope that Robert Pattinson will be an awesome Jacob, but we shall see.

I think people of all ages would love this book, but I would keep it for only upper level high school students, because of some lewd comments, scenes, and innuendos.

    YAYYYYYYY!!! You FINALLY read Water for Elephants!!! I told you this book was amazing! I was totally obsessed with this book! The whole story was written so well. I vividly pictured every scene as if I were watching it live. I can not wait to see this movie next month!! See Kayla, I told you I can suggest good books! Maybe one day you'll finish reading The Jesture! lol. Tonight Scott and I saw The Adjustment Bureau, and it was SO good! The movie was based on the book. The story is centered around what your life "plan" is, and how you can beat the odds and pave your own path for what you truly believe in. It's really such an interesting story. I may want to read this book now too. :)

    I try to read books you suggest!! lol Yes, though, you are right about Water for Elephants it was amazing. I will try to finish the Jesture, I've just got to find a time where I won't need to lug it around, it's a huge book lol. That movie sounds amazing though, can't wait to see it!

So Lost...

For so long I have been focused on getting a full time job, and now that I have that I am once again focusing on my future. Questions just keep plaguing me like: "What am I going to be doing in a year?" "Will I go to grad school?" "Will I get a teaching job?" "Will I stay at my current job?" "Will I get another job somewhere?" And now I just can't seem to get these questions out of my head. I feel so lost.  I don't know what to do, where to apply, how to find new opportunities. Book Sale!!!!!

     Right now on this website  there is an awesome book sale! They are selling books 5 for 15$ with free shipping! It is a selection of kids books, fiction, non-fiction, classics, and new titles. There are about 2000 pages of books to choose from! You can also get more than 5, what I mean is that you can get 10 for 30$, sometimes websites allow only 1 set of books for a sale to be sold at one time.     The best part about this website, is that when you purchase books from there they donate money to organizations that help people read, give books to children, and support literacy everywhere.
