Discovering Fantasy Football

I am the type of girl that loves sports, I played 3 sports a year for six years in middle and high school. I loved watching my now husband play football, and wrestle in high school and college. Now I love to watch the Yankees play baseball with my husband during the season, and we love to watch the football games during the fall and winter, Go Packers! We have even gone to see the Yankees play at Yankee stadium, and we also saw Buffalo play at their stadium against New England (the season they were undeafeated).
Last football season, my husband was asked by a friend to play fantasy football. At first, I was like no that's cool I'm not jealous, I don't know all that much about football anyway. But, as my husband picked his players, and checked his scores, and watched the games with new excitement, I wondered what I was missing! Alas, at the time the league was not allowed to add more players.
So this season, I decided to make my own league, and I invited friends of our families, and friends from school. Even though I like to watch football, I don't know too many players (besides Packers hehe), but I thought I would give it a try. I picked my own players during our snake draft, and it was so exciting. I loved watching to see what player went to which team. I loved sitting there with my husband, and brother-in-law and getting excited when picking a player. It was a serious rush of adrenaline and excitement!
The first week of football finally came around, and I was matched up against my husband, so we made a bet! Whoever lost had to do the dishes alone for one week! (We hate to do dishes) We excitedly watched the games together Thursday night, Sunday, and Monday night. I loved checking my scores, comparing the projected points with the actual points scored, and seeing how everyone else in the league was doing. It is amazing how something like this can just push you into the sports world with such a force.
I ended up winning that week, and my husband did the dishes alone for a week, and since we had friends visting, there were a lot! It was an amazing feeling to win something where I never thought I would, and wouldn't have been expected to win. I loved it, and as soon as Monday night football was over, I couldn't wait for Sunday to come again!
The next week I did lose, and of course it was disappointing, but it was interesting to see where I lost points, which players would have been better to start and which ones let me down. But, now I love fantasy football and it's something that my husband and I love to share. It brings us together on Sundays to trash talk, negotiate, discuss strategies, and just bond. It's an amazing thing and feeling to share something with your husband, especially something that you both enjoy.
I am so happy that I discovered fantasy football, and decided to give it a try, so my message today is: Don't judge something, give it a try, it may work out in better ways than you thought. Also, GO PACKERS! :)

Book # 38 Water for Elephants

Thanks to a co-worker who lent me the book, and friends and family that told me how amazing this book was, I finally read, Water for Elephants , by Sara Gruen. I have been hearing rave reviews from friends, family, coworkers, online sites, and other blogs about this book, and I have to say that I agree whole-heartedly. This is a wonderful book about love, life, the circus, and how connected people can become with each other and animals in such a short time. It's a stunning tale of the carnival and circus people of a time long ago, and how their lives revolved around the circus, the performers, the workmen, the animals, and the crowds. I loved all the characters in this book, and it was really interesting going from the past to the present with the main character. The love between Marlena and Jacob is so wonderful, and pure that it's a great part of this book. I also love how involved and invested Jacob becomes with the animals and some people in the circus. It's a tale of...

How Rude!

As of recently, I was hired and took a Customer Service Associate position at Lowe's. Which at first, I thought was just really a glorified cashier. As it turns out, we do a lot more than just ring customers out with their purchases. As a customer service associate, we ring customers out, we handle customer complaints, requests, problems, inquiries, we handle the phones, we find, print, and call about customer's order that were special ordered, or an internet order, or just ordered. We do a lot, and sometimes it gets very busy and crazy. What I really want to write about concerning my job was how to me it seems that people have just lost their ability to be pleasant, nice, and gracious to the people they are buying products from. I had so many customers be rude to me today, that it got me wondering, (and using Full House phrases), "Why are we so rude?" I know that I don't have a very important job, but I am still a person that should be treated with respect wh...

So Lost...

For so long I have been focused on getting a full time job, and now that I have that I am once again focusing on my future. Questions just keep plaguing me like: "What am I going to be doing in a year?" "Will I go to grad school?" "Will I get a teaching job?" "Will I stay at my current job?" "Will I get another job somewhere?" And now I just can't seem to get these questions out of my head. I feel so lost.  I don't know what to do, where to apply, how to find new opportunities. Ever since I was a little kid, I have been striving for something. Whether it's doing well in sports each season, or getting good grades at the end of the year, getting Top 10 of my class, and then graduating high school, then it was doing well in college, finding a good major, and then graduating. Now that I am done with all that, I am finding that it's hard for me not to feel a little lost, lonely, confused, and without purpose. Once I discove...
